Image Metadata Cleaner

Create a fresh image copy by re-encoding its pixels in your browser. This helps remove the original photo’s EXIF camera details, GPS tags and embedded metadata before you share it.

Clean an image

How it works

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, select the output format and quality, then process and download the new file. PixelTools does not upload your selected image to its image-processing server.

The original file is not changed. The clean copy is generated through browser image decoding and canvas export rather than copying the original image container.

Important privacy details

Original EXIF camera tags and GPS metadata are not copied into the re-encoded output. Browser encoders may still write basic output metadata (for example, image resolution information), so this tool should not be treated as a forensic metadata sanitizer.

Always use the metadata viewer to inspect the source file and check your output before sharing sensitive images.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool upload my image?

No. The selected file is processed locally in your browser.

Does it remove GPS coordinates?

The new image is re-encoded from decoded pixels, so the original EXIF GPS tags are not carried forward. Basic format metadata may be written by the browser encoder.
